What do you get when you combine all of the one-sheets for UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS (that’s two real crappy posters and one decent one)? You get the UK quad poster for LYCANS, that’s what! Proving that yes, the marketing folks who put the first batch of posters together really have no talent when it comes to posters.
I saw this because the original posters featuring Rhona Mitra and that other hairy dude swinging his sword were a couple of the crappiest posters I’ve ever seen. The photoshop job seemed to be done by a 5 year old, and Mitra’s face was so touched up, she looked computer animated. What the hell? The only poster that works is the one featuring Bill Nighy, mostly because the guy looks flippin’ scary as hell just sitting there. It’s those creepy eyes man, they stare right down into your soul!!!
The new UK quad poster features a cut-and-paste job of the previous posters with the same tagline, but a slightly different pillars-and-moon background. Bugh. I guess no one really seems to give a flock that this film is going to bomb harder than… well, let’s just say it’s a prime example of why January has a bad name when it comes to movie releases.
