David Lynch is an amazing director. Ever since he busted on the scene with ERASERHEAD, he’s had a cult following–mostly because hi s movies are not only good, but also effing bizarre. To this day, MULHOLLAND DRIVE is by far my favorite of all his films, and I still don’t know what the hell was going on there.
After years of directing, Lynch is trying something new: acting. That’s right, Lynch is star of THE SOUL DETECTIVE, a short film segment apart of the film series THINK TANK, which features five short films from five different Brazilian directors. DETECTIVE was written and directed by Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro, and goes a little something like this: A detective enters a train car were he finds different manifestations of a force that haunts the place. Using his telepathic powers he tries to enter the mind of a recently deceased man before all his memories vanish.
Nothing trippier than entering the mind of a dead person… somehow, this is a fitting storyline to feature Lynch, don’ you think? The guy excels in bizarre, and now look at this. Good stuff.
