George Miller’s FURY ROAD (formerly/perhaps still known as MAD MAX: FURY ROAD) is starting to pick up speed, and collecting cast members in the cow-catcher on the front of whatever piecemeal wasteland conveyance carries the bleak future’s survivors.
Nicholas Hoult, best known as Hugh Grant’s gawky young chum in ABOUT A BOY, joins the previously mentioned Teresa Palmer (who was nearly the villainess in Miller’s JUSTICE LEAGUE) for the secretive sequel, which is still being described as “set a short while after the story detailed in 1985’s MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME, which keeps Mad Max, the character originated by Mel Gibson, relatively young.”
Also searching for a tank of juice are Zoe Kravitz (offspring of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, nice work!), and Adelaide Clemens, who was in WOLVERINE just long enough to realize Dominic Monaghan’s light bulb trick was lame.
The ladies will be “in a convoy being chased by bad guys”, while Hoult’s character is named Nux, which carries the sound of a desert marauder.
The movie shoots Down Under this summer, and Tom Hardy (presumably now playing Max) and Charlize Theron are already attached. While promoting his latest film EDGE OF DARKNESS, original star Mel Gibson has gone on record as saying he won’t be back, but some of us are still holding out hope…
