Ronald. D. Moore recently signed a sizable multi-year deal with Disney's 20th Television, and THR has reported that one of his first projects will be to develop a TV franchise centered around Disneyland's Magic Kingdom.

The first installment of this new television universe will be The Society of Explorers and Adventurers, which is "set in a world where all the themed lands and characters of the Disney parks and classic films actually exist in another reality." Ron Moore will write and executive produce the series for Disney+, and the plan is for Moore to build out the new universe and oversee what will hopefully be a big new franchise for the streaming service. Moore will also be working closely with "the Disney Imagineering team, the group of research and developers who are responsible for the creation and design of all of Disney's theme parks across the globe," and THR's sources have said that a "mini-writers room is already being put together with a search under way for three senior-level writers." Moore, who has long been a fan of Disney, also spoke on THR's TV Top 5 podcast about his choice to sign a deal with the company.

I decided to go there mostly because my childhood was built around a lot of things that were Disney. I am a huge fan and aficionado of the Disneyland park in Anaheim to the point where I would go there by myself periodically and ride the rides. The opportunity for me to get to work on a lot of the classic IP that Disney has and things in their library that meant so much to me as a child growing up and that I have shared with my children ultimately was just something I couldn't pass up.

Ron Moore also teased that he's got a few Star Wars ideas that he'd like to pitch to Disney somewhere down the road, but it sounds like he'll have his hands full for the foreseeable future. In addition to The Society of Explorers and Adventurers and the Magic Kingdom TV universe, Moore is also developing a Swiss Family Robinson TV series with Jon M. Chu for Disney+. The second season of Moore's latest series, For All Mankind, recently debuted on Apple TV+ and has already been renewed for a third season.
