Will Tobey Maguire trade his spidey senses for hairy hobbit feet?
It’s been a guessing game thus far trying to figure out who will be playing Bilbo Baggins in Guillermo del Toro’s THE HOBBIT. First we thought it might be James McAvoy, but that was thrown out the window. Then Daniel Radcliffe until he finally ended the rumors by politely saying, no thanks.
Last month, our friends at Latino Review had a rather intriguing conversation with Maguire during promotion for BROTHERS. When asked who the actor would like to work with next Maguire replied, “Guillermo del Toro.” Then he followed that up quickly with, “We may have something here in the near future.”
Latino Review checked with agency sources, and they say it’s true. They apparently are in the early talks with CAA and HOBBIT producers for Maguire as Baggins. Now, this is obviously not a definite. People go into talks for roles all the time but never necessarily get cast. However, Maguire’s agent is the president of CAA. They also found out that SPIDER-MAN 4 & 5 will not be filming back to back, so he’d have time to play BILBO in between.
