We've known that James Wan's Malignant would be hitting theaters and HBO Max sometime this year, but we haven't known exactly when, until now. Warner Bros. have finally given the horror film an official release date as they've announced that Malignant will premiere on September 10th. In a further bit of release date shuffling, Warner Bros. have also pushed Godzilla vs. Kong back to March 31st. The monster-mash had been slated for a March 26th release, so this is only a delay of 5 days and puts the film closer to the Easter weekend.
Getting back to Malignant, James Wan took to social media to say, "I finally wrapped it last week. This was supposed to be my 'little horror thriller' I do between the big ones, but the pandemic pushed it as long the big ones. I’m super excited for this film. I don’t even know how to describe it. I wanted to do something original and genre-bending, and different to my other work, but still in the spirit of the horror-thrillers I grew up with. More to come." We don't know a heck of a lot about the horror film just yet, but I'm down for whatever James Wan has up his sleeves. As for Godzilla vs. Kong, the first trailer for the film was just released over the weekend and showed off plenty of giant monster action. I can't wait.
