The sequel, 2001 MANIACS: BEVERLY HELLBILLYS seems to be storming forward with a vengeance now that it has basically finished shooting. Today, we just received word that genre great, Bill Moseley, has just completed his work on the flick as “Mayor Buckman” (the role played by Robert Englund in the original). That’s Mr. Mosely up top chewing up a scene nicely.

Down below, we have a very excellent collection of new pics from the flick. Love that classic black and white “family photo”. Actually, that sexy “nurse pic” is pretty friggin’ awesome as well. Actually, that “burnt-face big-boobed girl pic” rocks too! I think this rendition of the MANIACS has the potential to be just as enjoyable as the first one was. Writer/director, Tim Sullivan, seems to be feeling the same way too. Have a look at what he recently said:

“Over the years I was approached many times to write and direct a sequel, but I waited until we not only had a storyline that served as a worthy successor to “2001 Maniacs”, but also the creative freedom to push the envelope open even further in a smart and funny way. Then on the eve of the election of Barack Obama as the nation’s first African-American president, I saw the opportunity to once again use the residents of Pleasant Valley as vehicle to expose the deep rooted prejudices of all segments of our society in a way that would hopefully make everyone realize the absurdity of their biases, while also sneaking in a few laughs in at the same time.”

Works for me! Hopefully we will all be able to catch Mr. Moseley, Lin Shaye, Nivek Ogre, Christa Campbell, Ahmed Best, Trevor Wright, and Andrea Leon very soon.
