Director Marc Forster will not return for the World War Z sequel

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've known for a little while now that there was indeed going to be a sequel to WORLD WAR Z, and now in a recent interview with THR Brad Pitt reveals that they'll be searching for a new director. Right now Plan B's sequel is still in its nascent stages, and confirmed to the site that director Marc Forster won’t be back. The director's departure doesn't come as too much of a surprise to me, honestly. I can't imagine too many directors returning after a hellish behind-the-scenes mess that was the first film. You have to give Forster a lot of credit for being able to stick with such a troubled film and make something that was not only a huge success, but a pretty damn solid zombie flick. With Forster out though, it will be interesting to see who gets the nod now that the film has become such a huge success.

Pitt also talked about the progress on the sequel saying, “We are talking about it… We are going to investigate a script. We have a lot of ideas we will cull from. Nobody is writing just yet, but we are compiling our ideas.”  That's all we've got for now, but I imagine we'll be hearing a lot about the sequel once they get some writers on board so we'll be sure to keep you folks in the loop.
