After a brief theatrical run, Tartan Films is set to release the subway spookfest MAREBITO onto DVD.

According to a press release put out earlier by Tartan, the Takashi Shimizu film is hitting shelves March 14th under Tartan’s Asia Extreme line, and as usual for Tartan, they’ve put together a nice package of extras for the film. Expect the film to be presented in anamorphic widescreen, Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1 with English subtitles, with interviews with director Shimizu and star Shinya Tsukamoto, a director’s discussion of JU-ON: THE GRUDGE, it’s American remake and MAREBITO, as well as the original theatrical trailer and the usual trailers for Tartan Asia Extreme’s upcoming releases.

Also in the press release was info on the Japanese thriller PRAYER and Taiwanese director Leste Chen’s THE HEIRLOOM, which are both set for April releases. In PRAYER, two guys who kidnap a young girl find out too late that the girl has been dead for a year, and in THE HEIRLOOM, a distant relative of the millionaire Yang family inherits the Yang house, where the entire Yang family commited suicide 20 years ago. Mysterious events begin to disturb the relative’s life and force him and his fiancee to confront the evil within. Time for a housecleaning!
