Mark Hamill had a secret voice-cameo in The Mandalorian

Oh, Mark Hamill, you little sneak. The final episode of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian has dropped on Disney+ today, and this last episode focuses on all the secrets, easter eggs, and references which you may have missed. One such secret is the revelation that Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, lent his voice to a character in The Mandalorian.

In the fifth episode of The Mandalorian, titled "The Gunslinger," we not only find ourselves back on Tatoonie, but back in the Mos Eisley cantina featured in the original STAR WARS film. It turns out that the bartender droid in this scene was voiced by an uncredited Mark Hamill. Additionally, The Mandalorian series creator Jon Favreau confirmed that the droid in question was EV-9D9, who was previously seen torturing other droids in the service of Jabba the Hutt in RETURN OF THE JEDI. Speaking of droids, the scene also includes an appearance from R5-D4, the astromech droid which Uncle Owen attempted to purchase in STAR WARS. Dave Filoni had requested that the production team repaint an existing droid to match R5, even including oil and grease stains where his "bad motivator" had blown up all those years ago.

The second season of The Mandalorian is still expected to debut later this year, with a few very interesting additions to the cast, including Michael Biehn (THE TERMINATOR) as "a bounty hunter from The Mando's past," Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as Bo-Katan Kryze, a Mandalorian warrior, Temuera Morrison (AQUAMAN) as Boba Fett, and Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood) as Cobb Vanth, a character introduced in Chuck Wendig's "Aftermath" series who wears Boba Fett's armour. There have also been major rumours which have pointed to Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) playing Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker who turned into a spymaster for the Rebel Alliance. The second season of The Mandalorian is expected to debut on Disney+ in October 2020.
