Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell may reteam for comedy Daddy’s Home

For my money, THE OTHER GUYS is one of the funniest movies of the last five years and the best buddy cop movie of the 2000s. Most of that is thanks to the hilarious chemistry between stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. While a sequel to THE OTHER GUYS doesn’t look like it is coming any time soon, we may still get a movie that re-teams the duo.

Deadline reports that Wahlberg and Ferrell may star in DADDY’S HOME for HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 directors John Morris and Sean Anders.

DADDY’S HOME casts Ferrell as a mild-mannered radio executive who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children. Complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.

The idea of teaming Ferrell and Wahlberg in roles very different than THE OTHER GUYS is reminiscent of Ferrell and John C. Reilly‘s fluctuating partership in movies like TALLADEGA NIGHTS and STEP BROTHERS. DADDY’S HOME comes from a script by Adam McKay and Etan Cohen. Cohen was originally attached to helm the movie last year when it was set to feature Ferrell and Vince Vaughn in the leads.

I am always a sucker for Will Ferrell movies. Even when they are mediocre, they still tend to make me laugh a lot more than most comedies that are released each year. DADDY’S HOME is on track for production this fall for a likely release in 2015.
