Martin Sheen is now set to lead the cast of the upcoming psychological horror film THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, director Andre Øvredal's anticipated follow-up to his international hit TROLL HUNTER, according to Screen Daily.

We first reported on THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE back in October when the project was first announced. Goldcrest will be talking to buyers at the EFM about the 2013 Blacklist and Bloodlist project which is due to shoot this summer in London, with additional casting underway.

Sheen will play Tommy, a small-town mortician who receives a mysterious homicide victim a beautiful young “Jane Doe”, with no apparent cause of death.

THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE takes place in a small-town, family-owned mortuary, where father and son coroners receive a mysterious homicide victim — a beautiful young “Jane Doe.” As they attempt to figure out how she died and who she is, they discover increasingly bizarre clues, which hold the key to terrifying secrets.

Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing wrote the JANE DOE screenplay.

Øvredal told Screen:

“Being a lifelong fan of Martin Sheen, I am honored and thrilled to get the opportunity to work with him. He also perfectly embodies everything I want his character in the movie to be, so this is a dream come true for me.

“I intend to make The Autopsy of Jane Doe a movie that will thrill, scare and delight the widest possible audience.”
