Martyrs’ grimy girls

We haven’t reported anything on the f-ed up French flick MARTYRS in almost a year. Fortunately we now finally have an update featuring an official site with images (like the one above) and a one-sheet (below). You can check out the site here, but fair warning, don’t do it at work because people may think you’re checking out a snuff film site or something. And speaking of depraved actions, have a look at the flick’s plot:

Set in the 70’s, Anna, escapes from a slaughterhouse and is found wandering on a country road, virtually catatonic after suffering some sort of physical abuse. She grows into a comely young woman, but she’s got serious issues. She also has a close friend, Lucie, and that’s who she ultimately calls after she finds herself in an unusual house in the middle of the forest, there to exorcise her demons in quite violent and visceral fashion. There’s something very disturbing about the Bauhaus-esque home, something Anna can’t quite put her finger on.

The Weinstein Company has just picked MARTYRS up, however there is no word yet on a US distribution. The film will be released in France on June 18, 2008. It was written and directed by Pascal Laugier and stars cuties (even when all grimy) Mylène Jampanoï and Morjana Alaoui, who grace the poster below.
