Martyrs remake skewers itself a trailer and Blu-Ray release date

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The remake of MARTYRS that until recently seemed like a distant bad dream is now rushing inexorably toward us. Not only did we get the release date, stills, and poster in a matter of weeks, now the theatrical trailer and home video release have bubbled up from the pool of blood. It's all happening so fast, it's like they're hoping we'll be so blindsided by content we'll forget our qualms about remaking the notorious French extremist flick on American soil (with American morals).

Well, it's up to you to decide if it works. You can check out the new trailer below, and look for the film on VOD, Blu-Ray, and DVD  on February 2, 2016, a scant week and a half after the initial theatrical release.

Ten-year-old Lucie flees from the isolated warehouse where she has been held prisoner. Deeply traumatized, she is plagued by awful night terrors at the orphanage that takes her in. Her only comfort comes from Anna, a girl her own age.

Nearly a decade later and still haunted by demons, Lucie finally tracks down the family that tortured her. As she and Anna move closer to the agonizing truth, they find themselves trapped in a nightmare – if they cannot escape, a martyr’s fate awaits them…

MARTYRS, directed by Kevin and Michael Goetz and starring Troian Bellisario and Bailey Noble, will rip through theaters on January 22nd.
