Marvel may take inspiration from Harry Potter for future Spider-Man movies

Spider-Man: Homecoming Tom Holland Harry Potter

Prior to Marvel finally taking creative control over Spider-Man with CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, we had five Spidey flicks under our belts, only two of which really had anything to do with Peter Parker's high-school years. Now that Tom Holland has strapped on the web-shooters, we may be spending more time with him in high-school than those previous movies did. Collider recently spoke with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and the big boss revealed that they may be following the Harry Potter format when it comes to upcoming SPIDER-MAN sequels.

Should we be able to make more after that? Sure. This is sophomore year, is the next one junior year? Is the next one senior year? Is there a summer break between each of those? I don’t know what, but it was sort of how do we do a journey for Peter not dissimilar for what the students of Hogwarts would go through each of their years, which was one of the early ideas we had for the movies.

The previous SPIDER-MAN films always seemed to be in a hurry to get Peter Parker out of high-school, perhaps because both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were in their late 20's when they took on the role, but with Tom Holland only recently exiting his teens, there's room to explore more of Peter's high-school experiences. For a few more SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING tidbits, make sure to check out our coverage of the Marvel panel at last week's Comic-Con.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is set for a July 7, 2017 release.
