Mason’s latest

Adam Mason seems to be a name on the rise in the horror community. Mason is the one behind films like BROKEN, THE DEVIL’S CHAIR, and the upcoming BLOOD RIVER, which I told you all about here. Now I haven’t seen any of his films, but BLOOD RIVER definately caught my eye.

The guys over at Dread Central recently got an interview with Mason, where he described a couple of his upcoming movies. In my opinion, both of them sound great.

The first film he spoke about is currently titled LUNA. Mason compares it to DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS. He goes on to describe it:

“Basically the whole world is flooded and constantly dark after a nuclear war. There are only a few thousand people left on the planet, scavenging around trying to survive. There are things living in the ocean and because of all the radiation everyone has cancer and are all deformed in one way or another. The tops of the skyscrapers are the only thing peaking above the ocean, and the film focuses on this one community. Our main character finds something that could change his whole life and because of it gets on the wrong side of the worst possible people you can imagine.”

That sounds like a pretty sweet ass flick, especially visually. His other porject is yet to be named. Mason describes this one as JACOB’S LADDER meets ANGEL HEART with a little THE WICKER MAN thrown in. Interesting. It’s about a writer for a popular magazine who finds about a community in the middle of the wilderness of America, in an area that’s basically untouchable, who have been in existence since the Civil War. He goes on:

”They basically interbred and over a few hundred years they’ve built a community there, fully functioning. Over the years tax men, for example, have tried to find it but never came back. So this writer becomes obsessed with this almost mythical place, ditches his whole life in LA and tries to find it so he can write the story of his career. Of course he gets there and it’s not what he expected at all.”

So as you can see, Mason’s got some projects with loads of potential lined up. And if the trailer for BLOOD RIVER is any indication for what Mason can do, we’re all in for some awesome movies. To check out the entire interview, which gives more info on both these flicks along with info on Mason’s other films, you can head over here.
