McKellan still Gandalf

JoBloJoBlo

Considering Peter Jackson’s involvement in the project (and the fact that director Guillermo del Toro has been publicly proclaiming it), Sir Ian McKellan’s return to the role of wizard Gandalf for THE HOBBIT won’t surprise anyone.

But it comes from the thespian’s own mouth: “Yes, it’s true,” McKellan tells Empire. “I spoke to Guillermo in the very room that Peter Jackson offered me the part and he confirmed that I would be reprising the role. Obviously, it’s not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf.

That sounds solid enough. McKellan also seems perfectly confident in del Toro’s abilities, even with the movie(s) in such an early state. The director has also stated that Andy Serkis (Gollum’s human incarnation) would return to for more terrorizing hobbitses and caressing the Precious.
