Melodious mammals bring the house down in the new trailer for Sing

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals (a la ZOOTOPIA), SING stars Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal – some might even say delusional – optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Check out the latest trailer from the studio who brought us DESPICABLE ME!

When it comes these animated ventures, my least favorite part is always the song-and-dance number that (usually) comes at the end. I'm not a fan of covers, and the iterations found in most of these family films generally make me cringe. As you can imagine, I am probably NOT the audience for SING! Still, our own Chris Bumbray felt pretty favorable about it (check out his review HERE), so perhaps Illumination Studios has another hit on their hands!

SING opens in theaters on December 21, 2016.
