Men in Black: International gets new image and plot update

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

Truth be told, I'm not sold on this upcoming reboot of MEN IN BLACK. Sure the general story kicks ass (as evident by the original Barry Sonnenfeld film starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones) but I'm not sure this new version is for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson as THOR: RAGNAROK was badass for a Marvel movie. It's just that this new movie looks too… hip? Is that the right word? I think so.

Anyhow, I'm more than willing to give MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL a chance past the first trailer we saw earlier this month (see it again for yourself below). And speaking of which, today we have a few updates on the movie. First, we have an all-new image from the movie (which you can see above and below) and we also have a bit more info on just what kind of threat these new Men in Black will be facing via Producer Walter F. Parkes.

Producer Walter F. Parkes:

I think the biggest difference [in this story] is that this time the enemy is within. MIB has been compromised from the inside, which leads them on a globe-trotting adventure to discover the true nature of the threat.

Sounds interesting enough. A threat from within. Kinda sounds like Parkes just gave away the movie's big twist. But I guess we'll all see sooner rather than later as the movie is all set to blast into your local multiplex this summer. Are you excited? What did YOU think of the trailer? Let us know below!

The film doesn't yet have an official synopsis, but we have heard that the story deals with

M trying to prove herself by joining the London MIB and being paired with the former ace Agent H. The pair becomes involved in a murder mystery that has them traveling the globe.

Directed by F. Gary Gray from a screenplay by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson as Agents H and M, respectively, with Liam Neeson as their boss and Emma Thompson reprising her MEN IN BLACK III role of Agent O. Also in the cast, in unspecified roles, are Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, and twin dancers Laurent and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois. Produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, with Steven Spielberg executive producing, MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL is scheduled to be released on June 14, 2019.
