Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz, and Milla Jovovich rumored for roles in The ExpendaBelles

As seems to be the typical outlet for news regarding THE EXPENDABLES franchise, the Bulgarian media has the scoop on three potential stars being sought for the all female version of the Sylvester Stallone series. Millennium Films head Avi Lerner has reportedly listed Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, and Meryl Streep as those being looked at for parts in the action film.

Milla and Cameron I can understand as they have both worked in action films including the RESIDENT EVIL and CHARLIE’S ANGELS series, respectively. But, would Meryl Streep really be considering a project like this? Granted, the frequently nominated actress has constantly delved into different genres and roles that go against the norm, but the last time she tried an action movie it was THE RIVER WILD with Kevin Bacon and John C. Reilly. That river-rafting flick was a fun romp but not nearly the type of action you would expect from a movie copying the formula of THE EXPENDABLES.

THE EXPENDABELLES is being written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith who wrote LEGALLY BLONDE. If there was ever a movie that should serve as a template for an action extravaganza, it is LEGALLY BLONDE. Sweet Jesus. Hopefully we do get Streep in the picture to at least entice some other big names to join in on the fun.
