Michael Bay’s pandemic horror film starts production during pandemic

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Deadline is reporting that the Michael Bay-produced found footage pandemic horror film SONGBIRD, directed by Adam Mason (INTO THE DARK), will be the first feature film shot in Los Angeles during the pandemic, having started principal photography yesterday. Here's the official synopsis:

The pandemic thriller takes place two years in the future. The pandemic has not gone away. Lockdowns have been rolled back and then reinstated and it becomes even more serious as the virus mutates.

Former Paramount production chief Adam Goodman (who is also behind the film, alongside Bay) had this to say about the commencement of the union-approved production:

Finding a safe and practical way back into production has not been easy, however, our partnership with the guilds and unions has been a true testament to our great Hollywood community. Throughout the process they were awesome partners at finding a way to get their members working again, but always making safety and welfare the first priority. As artists, we need to keep telling stories, and times like these must be documented.

Meanwhile, SONGBIRD – starring Demi Moore, Craig Robinson, Paul Walter Hauser, Bradley Whitford, Jenna Ortega, and Peter Stormare – has no official release date, but we'll keep you posted!

So what do you guys think? Either way, sound off below!
