Oh Michael Bay… why can’t this guy just stay out of our genre? Sure we’ve accepted his TRANSFORMERS flicks here at AITH but does he really have to tag his name onto every other genre project coming out of Hollywood? It seems the man has countless horror flicks heading our way, most of which are coming from his Platinum Dunes banner with partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Now we all have our opinions of Platinum Dunes so I’m not going to get into that… Just know the banner’s movies are hit or miss (with more missess than hits) though they’re still OK in my book.
It’s with that mindset that I come here today to tell you all about yet another genre project Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes have lined up for us. You see according to the folks over at Deadline, Paramount have just snatched up a sci-fi spec script and have already tapped Bay and Platinum Dunes with the task of producing this one. The project is currently listed under CONFIDENTIAL ALIEN PROJECT and comes from Bobby Glickert, who’ll be directing the feature. The buy comes off a teaser video and pitch put together by Glickert. Writers are currently being sought after to adapt Glickert’s story.
Now while the plot details are being kept under wraps we do know the film will involve alien abduction and will cost around $12 million. To give you a better idea it seems CONFIDENTIAL ALIEN PROJECT is being compared to the likes of CLOVERFIELD and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, so take from that what you will. Unfortunately this project is just getting off the ground and seems heavily guarded so this is all we know right now.

Whether we like it or not Michael Bay makes money and the guys has a thing for producing genre flicks, so we might as well just accept it. Who knows, maybe this new alien flick might be pretty decent? Only time will tell.
