Michael Crichton’s Sphere to become HBO show from Westworld producers!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

THR reports that HBO has tapped WESTWORLD producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan and Team Downey – as well as showrunner (and former WESTWORLD writer) Denise Thé – to develop a TV series based on Michael Crichton's novel SPHERE, which was previously adapted by Barry Levinson (TOYS) in 1998 and starred Dustin Hoffman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sharon Stone.

Here's the official synopsis:

The potential series will plunge viewers 1,000 feet into the ocean, where a group of scientists confronts the surreal, beautiful, and deadly mysteries of the universe, only to find the people closest to us may prove to be the most alien.

Obviously no official start or release date as of now, but we'll keep you updated when any new information comes in!

So what do you guys think? Any fans of SPHERE (book or movie)? If so, how does this new show sound? Either way, sound off below!
