Michael Imperioli joins NBC’s The Bone Collector series

THE BONE COLLECTOR starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie was based on the bestselling series by Jeffery Deaver, which spawned 11-books. NBC recently ordered a pilot for a TV series based on Deaver's books, suitably titled LINCOLN. Lincoln Rhyme was previously brought to life on the screen by Denzel Washington in the 1999 film THE BONE COLLECTOR. For the Lincoln pilot, the role is now set to be filled by Russell Hornsby.

And today we have word that he'll be joined by Michael Imperioli (THE SOPRANOS) as Rick Sellitto, an NYPD detective and Lincoln’s partner.

Imperioli is best known for the above-mentioned THE SOPRANOS and for good reason. But you might also know the man from roles in films such as Spike Lee's SUMMER OF SAM and OLDBOY (see below), THE LOVELY BONES, DEAD PRESIDENTS, BAD BOYS, and let's not forget his role as Spider in Martin Scorsese's GOODFELLAS.

Written by VJ Boyd and Mark Bianculli (S.W.A.T.), the series will follow

Legendary forensic criminologist Lincoln Rhyme, who was seriously injured during his hunt for the diabolic serial killer known as the Bone Collector. Called back into action when the killer re-emerges, Lincoln forms a unique partnership with Amelia Sachs, a young beat cop who helps him hunt the deadly mastermind while also taking on the most high-profile cases in the NYPD.

Boyd and Bianculli also executive produce with Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan. The show will draw from the entire "Lincoln Rhyme" collection including The Bone Collector, The Coffin Dancer, The Empty Chair, The Stone Monkey, The Vanished Man, The Twelfth Card, The Cold Moon, The Broken Window, The Burning Wire, The Kill Room, The Skin Collector, The Steel Kiss, The Burial Hour, and The Cutting Edge.

THE BONE COLLECTOR was directed by Phillip Noyce from a screenplay written by Jeremy Iacone based on The Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver. Martin Bregman, Michael Bregman, and Louis A. Stroller produced and the movie starred Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifah, Michael Rooker, Mike McGlone, Luis Guzman, Leland Orser, and Ed O'Neill.
