Michael Rooker is one awesome dude. He's funny as hell in his interviews, and is a fantastic actor, appearing in such films as CLIFFHANGER, MALLRATS, and of course, the upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Rooker was interviewed recently by Unrendered Podcasts, and talked a little about the Marvel film.

Michael Rooker was asked about his character Yondu's costume and look in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, and he says it is slightly different from the comic book version.

“As you can see from some of the photos out there (see below), I’m not in a loincloth. I don’t have a major, major fin thing that goes down my back. We haven’t visually gone with the way that Yondu was in the comics.”

Michael Rooker also said we should expect “Lovely, beautiful colors” from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, and goes on to say, "What do you expect? It is a superhero movie. And I hope that you see it, and you’re going to be going ‘I’m going to see this again.’ That’s what I hope.”

This is the third time Michael Rooker has worked with director James Gunn (SLITHER and SUPER), and the actor said he really enjoyed teaming-up with him again for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

“It was a beautiful shoot. James Gunn was an awesome, awesome director to work with again. I’ve worked with him before in the past, and it was great to get to do it again.”

Michael Rooker was also asked what attracts him to James Gunn as an actor.

“It’s what attracts him to me, not what attracts me to him. You’ve got the wrong question there. [Laughing] We get along well. We’ve been good friends since our first film. He allows me to do my thing, and he has great comments. Very good director…when you’re lost in the woods, he can direct you.”

James Gunn is a great director in my opinion, and I can't wait to see what he's done with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. It's an odd comic book with strange, but wonderful characters, and I think it has the potential to be the funnest Marvel movie to date. With Gunn behind the camera and such an incredible cast, I have very high hopes for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro, and Peter Serafinowicz (Oi prick!), and will be in theaters on August 1st, 2014.
