Mickey Rourke Sin City

Oh Mickey Rourke – every time you do something impressive and cool like sneak in an incredible performance to an explosion-filled action flick (THE EXPENDABLES), you then do things like drop out of THE EXPENDABLES 2 to be in SEVEN PSYCOPATHS and then quit while calling writer/director Martin McDonaugh  “a jerk-off… who wanted a whole lot for nothing” and say that “he can go play with himself.”  And I really wish you hadn’t said that, because now you’re officially in talks for two projects that I’ve definitely been looking forward to.

MOTOR CITY stars Gerard Butler and Amber Heard in the story of “an ex-Army Ranger named John Miller [who] is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Once released from prison, he makes it his new mission to go after the man who framed him and stole his true love.”   I assume that Rourke is in line for the part of the man who framed him and stole Amber Heard, and seeing as how production is scheduled to commence next month we should be getting some confirmation on that soon.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, meanwhile, is of course a prequel to the movie that more or less resparked Rourke’s career.  While he’s moaned about the required prosthetics and makeup in the past, if I remember the comic correctly the part isn’t huge and he’ll get a disproportionately large paycheck that will no doubt smooth things over.  And yes, even though it was more or less a given Rourke would return to the role of Marv proper confirmation is always nice.

Rosario Dawson on a chair

I had to decide whether to run a picture of Amber Heard or a picture of SIN CITY‘s Rosario Dawson.  It was basically the “Sophie’s Choice” of online news editing.
