Midsommar’s Florence Pugh will star in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

When I watched Olivia Wilde's funny and heart-warming directorial debut BOOKSMART, I had a grin ear-to-ear and came out of the theater elated. So I am definitely all-in on whatever project she has coming up next. Luckily I don't have to wait that much longer, as she has her next project as director lined up called DON'T WORRY DARLING, starring Florence Pugh (MIDSOMMAR), Shia LaBeouf (EVEN STEVENS), and Chris Pine (SMOKIN' ACES). Here's the official synopsis:

Set in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert, DON'T WORRY DARLING is a psychological thriller about a 1950s housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing a disturbing truth underneath.

Damn. First Florence Pugh plays someone stuck in a violent hippy cult, then brainwashed to be a Russian assassin in a spy cult in the upcoming BLACK WIDOW, and now is stuck in what sounds like another cult where she loses her mind…this time in the 50s. I'm not complaining, mind you – Pugh's good at these kinds of roles, and I trust Olivia Wilde to make this interesting and thought-provoking. Honestly, this project has jumped right up to one of my most anticipated.

Obviously no release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.

So what do you guys think? And did anyone see BOOKSMART? It's great, right?
