OUIJA 2 has a name! Director Mike Flanagan (HUSH, OCULUS) debuted the poster artwork on Twitter with a promise of a trailer tomorrow, revealing that the sequel is called OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL. Wow, they've already stopped numbering the films, which is something that usually happens after a franchise has worn itself out beyond repair and wants to separate itself from the original (remember, it took FRIDAY THE 13TH eight entries to get to that point).
However, Mike Flanagan is no hack. His films always grapple with interesting concepts, and during a recent interview with Blumhouse's Shock Waves podcast he said that the producers are giving him pretty free reign with this sequel, so it has every opportunity to be better than the anonymous OUIJA. And this poster (which you can view below) is simple but atmospheric, which makes me think he'll be going back to basics on this one.
The cast includes Parker Mack (Faking It), Kate Siegel (HUSH), Sam Anderson (FORREST GUMP), Henry Thomas (E.T.), Lulu Wilson (DELIVER US FROM EVIL), Elizabeth Reaser (TWILIGHT), Annalise Basso (OCULUS), and horror icon Doug Jones (PAN'S LABYRINTH, HELLBOY). No plot has yet been announced.
