Neil Marshall, the main man behind the werewolf classic DOG SOLDIERS and THE DESCENT, which was one of the better horror flicks that we’ve seen in a long time, has signed on to direct his third film in the ‘D trilogy’, a sci-fi actioner entitled DOOMSDAY for Rogue Pictures. And if that wasn’t cool enough, robobabe Rhona Mitra has just signed on to star!
DOOMSDAY is set three decades after a lethal virus tore through a major country, leading to the country’s walling off. When the virus, known as the Reaper, resurfaces in another country, an elite group is dispatched to the infected country to find a cure. There, they end up shut off from the rest of the world and must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.
Sounds like a blast to me, and with Marshall on board… it could have been a movie about a traveling circus, and I’d still want to see it! Mitra, who we last saw in HIGHWAYMEN, and the upcoming SKINWALKERS, does a good job looking totally hot, while also looking strong and kickin’ lots of ass- can’t wait to catch her here, as she’ll play the leader of the elite group that’s dispatched to the nightmarish country side.
Production on DOOMSDAY is set to begin early 2007, so stick around as I’m sure we’ll have more and more updates as they come along. In the mean time, let’s gawk at Ms. Mitra here, because… she’s smokin’!
