Less than a week ago M. Night Shyamalan announced his next project, LADY IN THE WATER (see article HERE), and today, Variety reports that he’s already making some major casting decisions.
As the role of ‘rare water nymph’ that’s found in a building’s swimming pool, Shyamalan wants Bryce Dallas Howard, who coincidently was the lead in last year’s THE VILLAGE. I probably would have went with porn-star Briana Banks myself, but Bryce is definately hot- and talented (she is the daughter director Ron Howard…).
So what about the superintendant who stumbles onto this mysterious nymph? Shyamaln has his eye on the great character actor Paul Giamatti (SIDEWAYS, PRIVATE PARTS)- who fits being a Super almost perfectly- the look, the attitude, and of course, the guy’s frickin’ talented as all get-out.
LADY is set to start filming this August, with a tentative July 21, 2006 release. Neither of the above stars have actually signed on for the parts, but Shyamalan’s crossing his fingers. And I’m hoping Howard turns down the role, so Shyamalan goes with my choice.
