The Marvel Disney+ series Moon Knight has added another player to its cast. It has been announced that May Calamawy has joined the show in an undisclosed role.

Calamawy joins Oscar Isaac, who will be playing the titular character of the series. Also known as Marc Spector, Isaac's Moon Knight is a mercenary who has numerous alter egos, most notably cabbie Jake Lockley and millionaire playboy Steven Grant. He uses these alter egos to better fight the criminal underworld but eventually he is established as being a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.

There is no other news on who Calamawy is going to play & since Marvel & Disney had no comment on her casting, it's likely they weren't 100% ready for this to come out. "Deadline" referred to it as an "undisclosed role" while "The Hollywood Reporter," said it was a "key role." I don't follow the Moon Knight character in the comics so if anyone has any speculation on who she might be playing, please feel free to comment.

Calamawy is currently best-known for playing the sister of Ramy Youssef on Hulu's Ramy. The series has been Emmy-nominated and is currently working on its third season. Calamawy also recently wrapped the indie comedy Together Together with Ed Helms. Moon Knight is aiming for a March production start in Budapest. Mohamed Diab, the helmer behind the Middle Eastern drama Clash, is directing several episodes, as are Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, the indie filmmaking team behind the sci-fi horror films The Endless & Synchronic.
