Moore Race Remake

Like they say in Hollywood, everybody wants to direct. The newest chap to take a shot at becoming a successful multi-hyphenate is producer Chris Moore of PROJECT GREENLIGHT fame. He’ll be tackling a remake of the 1975 cult classic RACE WITH THE DEVIL. Apparently working on genre flick FEAST this season on PG gave him the bug (we’ll ignore the more cynical conclusion, which is that he wants his first flick to make money over all other considerations and genre is the best bet to achieve that).

No word on casting, or how closely the flick will stay to the original premise which had good ‘ole Peter Fonda and Loretta Switt in the following hinky situation: Two couples head off to Colorado for skiing and dirt biking. Along the way, they witness a satanic sacrifice, but when they call the local authorities, all evidence disappears. They resume their vacation but find themselves shadowed by a cult.

Nice! I grant you I may have sounded a bit snarky above about the reasons for choosing this project, but it’s actually a great choice for a remake, and to tell you the truth, I’m a big fan of Chris Moore. He’s incredibly passionate about filmmaking while balancing that with an understanding of the business of Hollywood. Not an easy thing to do.

Plus in Season 1 of PG he got impersonated by a potato. How can you not love that? Good luck dude!
