Since Platinum Dunes’ take on THE AMITYVILLE HORROR slammed into theaters about three years ago we haven’t heard a peep. The flick wasn’t successful enough to warrant a quick turn-around sequel, and thank the devil for that!
But apparently MGM has been thinking sequel for a while now, and are currently out looking for writers. Not just one sequel but multiple sequels… all scheduled to be released straight to DVD. Ah, as shocking as that is, that’s not even the motherload. Ready for it? The new sequels will revolve around the horrors of… THE INTERNET!!!!
I shit you not, according to B-D, MGM is wanting to move into the area of horrifying multimedia with the ‘new’ franchise of AMITYVILLE films. Though nothing is official and there are no names attached, this is so ridiculously crazy… that is has to be true, and I’m sure confirmation will be coming soon enough.
Just the other day I was thinking that more movies should come out like FEAR DOT COM, PULSE, and STAY ALIVE because horror and the internet / technology is such a winning combination…. NOT!
