The guys over at DC Direct are planning on going a tad Bat-crazy. They’ve got four BATMAN products on the way, from box sets to busts to poker sets. And I’m here today to tell you about them all!
First up is the ARKHAM ASYLUM BOX SET. This set is pretty sweet. It includes four figures: Batman, The Joker, The Penguin, and Killer Croc. The selling point for this one is that it also includes a book featuring stories of Batman’s past. It runs 64 pages and ‘offers rare glimpses into the lives of some of the most notorious residents of Gotham City’s home for the criminally insane.’ Doesn’t that just tickle your fancy?!
The stories included are: ‘Escape’ from SHOWCASE ’95 #11, ‘Workin’ My Way Back to You’ from THE BATMAN CHRONICLES #3, ‘Penguin Dreams’ from BATMAN #585, and ‘Fool’s Errand’ from ROBIN #85. This one hits shelves on September 23.
Next up we’ve got a couple collectibles that don’t really strike my interest, but I’m passing them along all the same! First up is an ARKHAM ASYLUM POKER SET. This set includes: ‘Two standard 4-color, 4-suit, 54-card decks and 300 4-color poker chips. The cards offer photos of both Arkham Asylum Crazies as well as Gotham’s Heroes. The chips range in the colors black, blue, gold, and gray.
The set also includes 5 black dice and a 4-color Certificate of Authenticity, which actually appears as a card in the deck. All of this gets packed into a deluxe metal carrying case packaged in a 4-color box. The case is actually lockable too, with 2 keys also included. This puppy goes for a whopping $199! If your into poker and into Batman you can’t go wrong! It’s hitting shelves September 23rd.
Next up we have a bust of The Joker’s main squeeze Harley Quinn. Now although not a huge Batman villain, Quinn has her own, rather large fanbase. So why not put out a bust of this baddie? And let’s admit it… she’s pretty hot. That suit doesn’t leave much to the imagination if you catch my drift.
The bust is scaled at 1:2 and offers Quinn in her famous jester outfit. And just for kicks, her jester hat can be posed in several different ways! The bust comes on a ‘museum-style pedestal display base.’ It’s 12” in height, 7.75” wide, and 5” deep. It comes with a 4-color Certificate of Authenticity and is packaged in a 4-color box. You can score Harley for a meesly $295 when she hits shelves on September 30th.
Now this final Batman collectible is actually pretty badass. The whole ‘Black and White Batman’ is no stranger to collectible figures, but dare I say this one may be the best? Check out the figure above and read on for the stats.
This statue ranges 7.75” high, 4.5” wide, and 2.75” deep and is based on the art of David Mazzucchelli, which is from the epic graphic novel BATMAN: YEAR ONE. The pose was designed by Mazzucchelli, who also consulted in the production of the statue! Good deal!
The newest Black and White Batman is painted in monochromatic tones and features a Bat-logo-shaped base. It’s packaged in a black and white box. Perfect. This status goes on sale September 2nd and can be yours for just $80. I’ll keep an eye out for when we can pre-order these goodies so keep it here for updates!
