I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to finally write an article on the pleasure-sport horror flick, PAINTBALL. I just really like the potentially fun sound of it. In case you’ve yet to take on the full synopsis, I’ll shoot it out for ya right below:
Eight strangers convene in an undisclosed location for an intense, experts-only paintball retreat. Out of the gate, the game seems to be exactly what they paid for: all-out action in a remotely set battle of wits and wiles. As the game advances and the stakes get higher, however, it becomes clear that the group is playing a very different game than they signed up for. With rules that change as soon as they are mastered, the team sport quickly devolves into an anything-goes struggle for individual survival, and the participants gradually realize that their real opponent may be the game itself.
Pretty damn interesting, huh? Since PAINTBALL is screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, some sweet new images have become privy to the public. I really dig the shot up top of some brave fallen “paint” soldier. And down below we’ve got one poor lady stuck in some messy f*ckin’ muck. Oh, I do believe fun will be had with this one!
PAINTBALL was directed by Daniel Benmayor from a script by Mario Schoendorff. It stars Brendan Mckey, Robert Maskell, Patrick Regis, Jennifer Matter, Peter Vives, Claudia Bassols (below), Anna Casas, and Iaione Pérez. It is currently playing at Tribeca and releases in Spain on July 10th.
