It’s been awhile since we’ve seen the evil Tall Man and his flying ball of death terrorizing folks on the big screen, so it’s my pleasure to say director Don Coscarelli is currently working on his latest PHANTASM flick, PHANTASM’S END. Starring PHANTASM alums A. Michael Baldwin and Reggie Bannister, this one’s set in the year 2012, where America is a wasteland known as the Plague Zone- an area controlled by the Tall Man, and over-run with his dwarf slave minions. Held up in a Mormon Mausoleum (sweet) with his ‘baggers’ (infected human like creatures) and dwarf slaves, the Tall Man is trying to take over the rest of the world, with only a group of hi-tech troops sent in to stop him. Quite the mouthful, but it sounds entertaining enough… not necessarily good, but entertaining…
While we’re talking about entertaining sequels, Artisan Entertainment is looking into producing BLAIR WITCH 3, with original WITCH director Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez at the helm. The premise so far for WITCH 3 involves the story of the original Blair Witch, Elisabeth Kedward, who was banished into the woods for being a witch- and has haunted the township of Blair ever since. I know I’m probably the only one here, but I actually enjoyed BLAIR WITCH 2: BOOK OF SHADOWS- and the premise for WITCH 3 sounds like it could be pretty good. It could also really suck.
Release dates for both PHANTASM’S END and BLAIR WITCH 3 have yet to be set.
