Months ago we told you how a STRANGERS sequel was officially being talked about…
Well not only is it being talked about, it has a writer already signed with some casting talks! I loved THE STRANGERS, aside from the shrieking ending… so confirmation of this sequel has me excited. Now I’m sure some out there are thinking about how THE STRANGERS might be better off left alone with the way it is… I look at it this way: We’ve finally got a sweet, rated R horror flick with some vicious villains, dare I say this might be the next best horror franchise? God knows SAW isn’t cutting it anymore.
Well let me get to the actual news via Variety. STRANGERS writer/director Bryan Bertino has been signed to pen the script and early word has Liv Tyler (below) and the three original villains all returning, but no confirmation on that yet. No word yet on if Bertino will be directing as well.
STRANGERS was a huge success that actually delivered, so the studio hoping they have a potential franchise on their hands isn’t far fetched. Production on the sequel is set to start in early 2009. As always, we’ll keep you updated.
