Mortal Kombat: new footage of the opening sequence revealed!

So this is awesome! Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have just unleashed a new, awesome TV spot showing off master warrior Hanzo Hasashi (a.k.a. Scorpion, played by Hiroyuki Sanada) bloodily taking out a bunch of Lin Kuei lackeys with his iconic weapon (presumably before his big bout with Bi-Han, a.k.a. Sub-Zero, played Joe Taslim)!

A washed-up mixed martial arts fighter named Cole Young is unaware of his hidden lineage or why he is being hunted down by Sub-Zero of the Lin-Kuei clan of assassins. Concerned for the safety of his family, he seeks out a clique of fighters that were chosen to defend Earthrealm in a high-stakes battle against the forces of Outworld in a inter-dimensional fighting tournament that occurs once in a generation. Appearances to be made by Shang Tsung, Goro, Jax Briggs, Sonya Blade, Kano, Scorpion and more fan favorites!

Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat – starring Lewis Tan, Joe Taslim, Josh Lawson, Jessica McNamee, and Hiroyuki Sanada – will get over here to select theaters and HBO Max April 16th!
