Mortal Kombat trailer will be “getting over here” sometime next year

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

There's not a movie I'm more excited about – as well as anxious about – than the upcoming James Wan-produced Mortal Kombat reboot, directed by first-time director Simon McQuoid. On the one hand, I'm glad we're getting another big-budget Mortal Kombat film – only this time, it's finally going to R-rated and bloody like the games! But also…the leaked rumored plot synopsis (focusing on some random boxer made specificially for the movie?), as well as some of the wonky character descriptions (which, admittedly could've changed in the interim) have definitely tempered my excitement as well.

But hopefully all that fear is unfounded, and the movie turns out awesome! And we'll supposedly be getting our first glimpse at the film, via trailer, sometime next year at the earliest, according to producer Todd Garner. We can see him saying as much on his official Twitter account:

That's not too surprising, as the year is already almost out, and they had to do some more reshoots later than expected due to Covid. But it's been reported production has wrapped, so now it's just a matter of time until it comes out in theaters and HBO Max April 16, 2021!

So what do you guys think? Fans of Mortal Kombat? If so, you looking forward to the remake? Either way, sound off below!
