2010: Lionsgate

Another day, another 2010 preview from a studio located on the
West Coast of the United States a.k.a. Hollywood. We’ve already posted 2010 previews from WARNER
BROS, WALT DISNEY,
SONY PICTURES
and PARAMOUNT, so
how about we give LIONSGATE a chance to
showcase their slate right now?

Like Paramount before it, LG has two no-brainers on their list
in KICK-ASS, which may be one of the most anticipated movies for movie
nerds in 2010, and THE EXPENDABLES, which may be one of the most
anticipated movies for action fans! DAYBREAKERS and FROM PARIS WITH LOVE also
look like they could be a handful of fun, but thumbs down to yet another
lame-looking Nic Cage flick in SEASON OF THE WITCH and wake me when the SAW

DAYBREAKERS
(January 8)

The year is 2019. A mysterious plague has swept over the earth, transforming the majority of the world’s population into vampires. THE SPY NEXT DOOR

Jackie Chan goes undercover as a mild-mannered man and gets asked by his neighbor to baby-sit her three young children. What seems to be a simple task proves to be challenging for the international secret agent, especially when danger comes knocking on the door after one of the kids he is taking care of inadvertently downloads a secret code.

FROM PARIS WITH LOVE
(February 5)

A personal aide to the U.S. Ambassador in France, James Reese (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) has an enviable life in Paris and a beautiful French girlfriend, but his real passion is his side job as a low-level operative for the CIA. All James wants is to become a bona fide agent and see some real action. So when he’s offered his first senior-level assignment, he can’t believe his good luck – until he meets his new partner, special agent Charlie Wax (John Travolta). A trigger-happy, wisecracking, loose cannon who’s been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack, Wax leads James on a white-knuckle shooting spree through the Parisian underworld that has James praying for his desk job. SEASON OF THE WITCH
(March 19)

Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence.

KICK-ASS
(April 16)

KICK-ASS tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes — including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) — and forges a friendship with another fledgling superhero, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.

WARRIOR
(September 17)

An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Riordan returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father, a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. ALPHA AND OMEGA
