Ackroyd talks GB3

The truth is no one really knows anything about GHOSTBUSTERS 3 right now. Perhaps the screenwriters – Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky – know where they’re taking the movie but talk of actors and start dates is awfully premature at this point. But Dan Ackroyd spoke about the movie publicly this weekend and while his comments are rather insignificant, it’s Ackroyd and GHOSTBUSTERS 3 and everyone is getting themselves excited. Ackroyd participated in an online chat to promote a House of Blues in Boston and inevitably a question about GHOSTBUSTERS came up to which he replied, “Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009.” So they’re not even working on the script until summer? And they want production to begin this fall? Of course Ackroyd’s “hope” that the film will go into production this fall doesn’t mean anything in the grand scope of things. Robert Downey, Jr. hoped Mickey Rourke would be in IRON MAN 2 but we see how that’s turning out. So while that can be looked at as a super best case scenario, I would wager that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 will not be going into production (unless he’s talking early pre-production) this fall. Eventually, I’m sure but for now let’s just wait and see…
