Allison Williams, one of the stars of the HBO series GIRLS, is headed for her first big screen role but there may be an even bigger one looming on the horizon. Deadline reported that Williams will star in the film ROSALINE, inspired by the Shakespeare character of the same name. But, as an aside in that same story was the tidbit that Williams is also on the shortlist for the upcoming Josh Trank directed reboot of FANTASTIC FOUR.

There is not much about either project in the story but both sound intriguing. ROSALINE could be a take on the play LOVE'S LABOUR LOST or tell the story of Romeo's lover before Juliet. Both ROSALINE and FANTASTIC FOUR are both set at 20th Century Fox, which could be where the story is coming from. So, let the speculation begin.

Williams has no feature film experience but has made an impression on GIRLS. Her character is one of the more straight-laced characters and one of the few with no nude scenes. She is the daughter of NBC News anchor Brian Williams. I can see her in the role of Sue Storm, especially if they are trying to go younger with the casting.

The reboot of FANTASTIC FOUR is being made with input from Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar.  The aim is to bring the franchise in line with the X-MEN films with the potential to create a secondary Marvel Cinematic Universe at Fox.  If they can cast this team with some quality actors and then bring it in line with both THE WOLVERINE and whatever is left after X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, we could be in for another nice comic universe.

FANTASTIC FOUR is slated to be released on March 6, 2015.
