Amazing Spider-Man rumor reveals potentially cool Lizard set piece?

This news is a completely unconfirmed rumor, but one that could be a potential spoiler if true. You’ve been warned.

According to a website called BigFanBoy.com, Marc Webb’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN will be featuring a big action sequence near the end of the film where Spidey will fight off a gaggle of S.W.A.T. police officers. Thing is, all the cops are actually lizards! Here’s more from BigFanBoy:

“…many of the stunt actors in the film have been spending time in heavy make-up for hours on end because of a fight scene in the film where they’re turning all the S.W.A.T. team guys into reptilian creatures…”

The assumption would be that The Lizard, being played by Rhys Ifans, is the one responsible for causing this mayhem of scaly proportions. That is a safe assumption, right? I’m reading things about how this could actually be related to Irrfan Khan and the Proto-Goblin (who doesn’t actually appear in the film). I’m not that well-versed in Spidey lore, but it’d be interesting to know if something like this has been tackled in the comics. If this scenario sounds familiar to anyone, let us know below.
