Andrew Garfield is finally going on the record about rumors he's returning as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home. There have been a lot of rumors and speculation flying around for months because it's clear the film is doing some kind of multiverse storyline by officially bringing back Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, who was the villain in Tobey Maguire's run as the wall-crawler in Spider-Man 2, and Jamie Foxx as Electro, who faced off against Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Garfield has seen all the speculation and, unless he's really telling us a very elaborate lie, he's shooting down rumors that he is returning as the character in the latest Spider-Man adventure.

During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Confused Podcast, Garfield was asked point-blank about the validity of the Spider-Man rumors and before Horowitz can really dig further, Garfield seemed eager to express that the speculation has gotten a bit out of control because he isn't in the film and hasn't even received a call about it. I'll provide a break down of what he said along with a clip from the podcast in question below:

"I almost don't want to touch the Spider-Man stuff because I don't want to ruin anything if there is something to ruin. There isn't anything to ruin bro! I have to just quickly cut you off. There's nothing to ruin. Like it's so crazy too. Dude, it's f****** hilarious to me because it's like…I do have this Twitter account and I see like how often Spider-Man is trending and it's people freaking out about a thing and I'm just like…guys, guys guys guys like…I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say like, I recommend that you chill. Like listen, I can't speak for anything else but for myself. They might be doing something, but I ain't got a call."

There you have it! An official denial from Andrew Garfield but the real issue with the denial is that we need to decide if we believe him. The actor is aware that many fans won't believe him and even compared the situation to playing games like Werewolf or Mafia where you have to convince everyone else playing that you aren't the secret evil minority. Is it possible that Garfield hasn't gotten the call yet and could be brought in soon to shoot a cameo? Could very well be the case but, as of now, it seems like he isn't involved. Now we just need some kind of denial or anything from Tobey Maguire who hasn't said a peep about the Spider-Man return rumors.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled for release on December 17, 2021, (which is an awesome birthday present for me) and we do know that Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and he'll officially be joined by Zendaya, Maria Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Jacob Batalon, and J.B. Smoove.

Do YOU believe Andrew Garfield? Let the speculation begin!
