Warner Bros. is adding another cook to the kitchen when it comes to JUSTICE LEAGUE, a clear sign they are trying to throw whatever they can at the problems created by BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE in order to save the DC Cinematic Universe's future at such an early stage.

Ben Affleck is set to take on more responsibility for the DC team-up film, adding executive producer for the film to his list of duties, alongside being Batman. In such a role, Affleck would be a part of the JUSTICE LEAGUE brain trust, with Zack Snyder and writer Chris Terrio, giving him further skin in the game to turn out the best movie they possibly can.

Word is that Warner Bros. was absolutely blindsided by the negative reactions BATMAN V SUPERMAN set off, genuinely believing they had a crowd-pleaser on their hands that everyone would embrace. When that didn't happen, they were caught off-guard on what to do next, especially with JUSTICE LEAGUE ready to go right into production upon DAWN OF JUSTICE's release. That gave them no room to doctor the script any more or consider a change at director or anything of the sorts… and now they are trying to alter things on the fly during production and then perhaps later in post and with reshoots that could right the ship before this shared universe starts taking on heavy amounts of water.

At this point, it's too early to know what course JUSTICE LEAGUE will take, and if there will be any major changes to the characters of the tone of the film to make it more appealing to mainstream audiences. However, even with the big box office number BATMAN V SUPERMAN pulled in globally at the box office ($864 million and counting), that amount is well below what Warner Bros. expected, and more Affleck is the first change they are willing to make in order to stop that from happening again.

JUSTICE LEAGUE – PART ONE is on the calendar for a November 17, 2017 release.
