They might not be as scary as clowns, but small dolls made with the likeness of humans are terrifying in their own right and made even more so when you put a big ol’ knife in their hands. This is why the deranged doll come to life, Chucky, has remained a horrifying figure for decades, and while he’s getting a new makeover for the upcoming remake the new, full reveal of the murderous toy proves he’s just as freaky as ever. Is it the red hair that makes him look so menacing? The overalls? I think it’s the overalls.

The full reveal of the character was released today by Orion Pictures, which comes after we got the first teaser some time ago. Stars Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry will lead the main human cast, while the one and only Mark Hamill will be lending his voice to the vicious toy (Brad Dourif was the voice in past incarnations). In the pic, we see the doll simply being his creepy self, with a knife in hand and a smirk on his face that says, “Hug me…so I can rip out your spine.”

The rollout of glimpses at the killer doll has been similar to that of the first Pennywise images from the new IT movie back in 2017, in that we first saw him through dark, clouded images, all before getting a bright full look. Even in the trailer, the best we got was a silhouette of the baddie towards the end. So, while we have been able to discern a look at the new face of Chucky in past images, this is the best, brightest and most complete look at the iconic villain yet.

Here's the synopsis:

A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Directed by Lars Klevberg, CHILD'S PLAY is in theaters June 21.
