Could you be Thor?

There were a lot of rumors that Marvel was looking at Brad Pitt to star in THOR for director Kenneth Branagh. But based on a recent casting description for the film, Brad Pitt doesn’t seem to fit that description at all. Coming Attractions unearthed a casting notice for THOR and this is what they’re looking for in a main character:

Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20’S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.

Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severly [sic] humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature hero of our film.

It looks like Branagh and crew are looking for more of an origin story of Thor rather than an older, wiser Pitt-like hero. The trouble might be finding an actor that has the physical look and acting chops to pull off such a role. What about Ryan Gosling (who had been attached to Green Lantern)? He’s 6’1″, blond, a top-notch actor and looks like he could beef up if given the time. But that’s besides the point. What do you think of the new, younger Thor? Do you like the direction that Branagh appears to be taking the character (at least based on this notice)?
