Daniel Radcliffe shuts down Moon Knight rumors

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Daniel Radcliffe is no stranger to behemoth franchises, having played the title character in all of the HARRY POTTER films. Rumors began swirling some time ago that the actor was being looked at to star in the upcoming Disney+ series, Moon Knight, based on the fan favorite Marvel character. While Radcliffe doesn't appear to be opposed to the idea, he made it clear that those stories were indeed rumors.

Via ComingSoon.net, Radcliffe discussed the rumors with the site while promoting his film ESCAPE FROM PRETORIA:

"If I was ever to go back into a franchise, I think the bar for that script would be even higher than anything else. Before you can sign on to being in anything for multiple years, you have to be sure you’re really going to love it all the time. I’m not averse to doing any kind of franchise thing in the future again, that could be fun. But the Moon Knight rumors are untrue, I can officially debunk that one, I haven’t heard anything about it.”

Moon Knight was officially announced by Marvel’s chief creative officer Kevin Feige last year along with two other MCU shows for Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. The character was first introduced in  “Werewolf by Night” #32 in 1975 and was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin. In the comics, Moon Knight's alter ego is Marc Spector, a Jewish-American rabbi’s son who grew up to become a heavyweight boxer and then a U.S. Marine. Spector goes on to become a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu after being left for dead on a mission in Egypt.

As for Radcliffe, the actor's post HARRY POTTER career has been very interesting to watch. While he has shown up in mainstream fare like NOW YOU SEE ME 2, THE WOMAN IN BLACK & VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN, Radcliffe has made a name for himself for appearing in offbeat indie titles like SWISS ARMY MAN, IMPERIUM, HORNS & JUNGLE. His HARRY POTTER earnings allow him to be very selective in terms of the projectts he picks and I'm glad he's not overly eager to jump into another franchise, although I think he could completely hit it out of the park as Moon Knight.

Who do YOU want to see play Moon Knight? Should Daniel Radcliffe take on the role?
