David Ayer tweets a hint about the plot of Suicide Squad

While we know who the main cast of SUICIDE SQUAD will be, we have yet to get a concrete plot synopsis that delves beyond the fact the film will follow Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and The Joker as they undergo missions for Amanda Waller. With the cast including Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and more, the odds seemed to favor this being a PG-13 affair rather than the hard R you would expect from a violent, villain-centric squad of characters.

With David Ayer behind camera, you would expect there to be a good deal of violence so the reveal that the film may be based around a specific issue of the SUICIDE SQUAD comic offers some hope. Here is what Ayer tweeted yesterday.

The issue, titled “Kicked in the Teeth” follows the formation of the team but has a pretty violent opening.

The story begins with the Suicide Squad defeated, imprisoned and being interrogated about their newest mission. Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot and company must make it out alive without revealing who’s pulling the strings behind their illegal operations. Who will be the first to crack under the pressure? More importantly will they make it all out alive?

Obviously, King Shark and El Diablo feature into the comic but are not cast (yet?) in the SUICIDE SQUAD movie. This issue could simply be serving as a jumping off point or inspiration for the film and it sounds like one hell of a way to declare that you are not messing around. Ayer seems like a good fit for material as dark and gritty as this so hopefully this is not just a passing reference.

SUICIDE SQUAD opens on August 5, 2016.
