David Leitch to adapt Undying Love graphic novel for Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8

Good grief, does David Leitch ever sleep? It's been announced today via Deadline that the FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW and DEADPOOL 2 helmer has signed on to direct UNDYING LOVE for Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 banner. The project boasts a script by DEAD SNOW and HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS scribe Tommy Wirkola, which is based on the Image Comics series of the same name.

According to Image Comics' official website, UNDYING LOVE was created and written by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman. In addition to co-creating and co-writing the series, Coker also provided the art, with colors by Freeman and letters by Michael David Thomas. Image describes UNDYING LOVE as a horror-action tale that's equal parts vampire mythology and Chinese folklore. Set in modern day Hong Kong, ex-soldier John Sargent has fallen for a beautiful Chinese woman named Mei. The only thing keeping the star-crossed lovers apart: Mei's a vampire. To free Mei from the curse, Sargent sets out to destroy the vampire that made her. The only problem: Mei was turned by one of the most powerful vampires in history… dun dun dunnn!

A while back, Warner Bros. purchased the rights to UNDYING LOVE, with Joe Carnahan and Alex Aja attached to develop the project. Now, the vampiric property is in Leitch's more-than-capable hands, with Kelly McCormick and Stephen L’Heureux set to produce, with Robinov set as an executive producer.

Both digital and print versions that collect all four issues of Coker and Freeman's series is now available to own via Image Comics, wherever comics are sold.
